Description
This rare, embroidered cotton modesty veil panel, was typical of those worn by women in the 1950’s in Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. In the top center is a crocheted tri-color “peek-a-boo” panel used to allow vision. The panel is totally embroidered in a red pattern giving the appearance of a printed fabric. It also has 2 glass beaded tassels forming ties used to secure the panel. It makes a wonderful wall hanging and a fabulous conversation piece for the collector of rare vintage textiles. Condition is good, fabric is Russian vintage cotton in a tan color with red embroidery, and it measures 22 by 31 inches.
