Description
This extremely rare, modesty veil panel, was typical of those worn by women in the 1820’s in Afghanistan. In the top center is a “peek-a-boo” panel used to allow vision. The panel is totally woven of horsehair and is embroidered and beaded. It is black, brown and red, and is mildly frayed on the edge but it is in remarkable condition for its age. It makes a wonderful wall hanging and a fabulous conversation piece for the collector of rare vintage textiles. It measures 19 by 29 inches.
